My Full Anti-Aging Skincare Routine
Over the years, my esthetician and cosmetic dermatologist have preached the importance of a consistent, high quality skincare routine - and I’m grateful. But more importantly, they taught me about the importance of serums (especially after age 30).
For years, I splurged on anti-aging moisturizers and I rarely ever saw results. Now I know why! Because serums are a thinner consistency, they sink into the skin more deeply. Many serums also contain a much higher concentration of active ingredients than moisturizers, making them more effective in targeting specific skin concerns. This is why my current skin care routine prioritizes high quality serums over expensive, anti-aging moisturizers.
As a natural beauty enthusiast, I believe that taking care of my skin is truly the best way to age gracefully. Having a nice canvas helps me feel confident and provides me with the flexibility to take a “less is more” approach to makeup.
So, today I’m spilling my secrets and sharing links to the exact products I use (in the order of how I use them).
AM Routine:
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser - Cleanse for 30-60 seconds.
Skinceuticals CE Ferulic Serum - Apply a dime size amount to face, neck and decolletage.
Exlinea Smoothing Peptide Serum - Apply a small amount to fine lines (forehead, smile lines, and between the eyebrows).
Skinceuticals Age Complex Eye Cream - Apply a small amount all around the eyes (don’t forget the crow’s feet).
Supergoop Everyday Lotion (with SPF 50) - Apply a dime size amount to face, neck and decolletage.
*Pro Tip - Wipe excess serums/lotions on the backs of your hands. This is an area that ages quickly, as it’s always exposed.
PM Routine:
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser- Cleanse for 30-60 seconds.
Retinol/Lactic Acid/Hyaluronic Acid (alternating) - On night one, I use Skinceuticals 0.3% Retinol for Sensitive Skin to help turn over the skin cells. Night two, I use Good Genes by Sunday Riley to slough off the dead skin cells and give my skin a nice glow. Finally, on night three, I use my B5 Hyalu Serum by La Roche Posay to restore hydration and plump up the skin. I follow each of these products with my Cetaphil moisturizer, and repeat this process continuously.
Alternating the products in step 2 ensures maximum exfoliation, without drying the skin out too much. If you are new to active ingredients, I always recommend checking in with your dermatologist or esthetician before starting a new regimen.
